« Media Professionals;
It is with renewed pleasure that on behalf of the Minister of Public Health, I would like to welcome you to the Public Health
Emergency Operations Centre for our daily press briefing on the evolution of COVID-19 in our country. Today, the epidemiological situation shows 528 new confirmed cases, 08 deaths and 27 recoveries.
Ladies and gentlemen;
Allow me to focus today on the unavoidable need for our populations to have permanent access to reliable information on
various aspects of this disease caused by a completely new virus. Since the outbreak of this health crisis, access to reliable
information for the populations on the history, nature, causes, symptoms and means of prevention of COVID-19 is therefore
one of the main concerns of the Government.
Thus, faced with the challenge imposed by the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus on a national scale, the regular
dissemination of reliable and transparent information enables our communities to better understand the current epidemic and to better take ownership and practise the recommended prevention and protection measures.
The involvement of media is unavoidable in the fight against fake news about COVID-19. This strong involvement of all media
professionals is one of the keys to the success of our preparation phase and has continued to grow and improve since the first 2 positive cases were reported in our country. »
